FEATURING
EMPEROR
NORTON
Opera in One Act
Music by Henry Mollicone
Libretto by John S. Bowman |
 |
Diana
and Michael arrive at a theatre to audition for a play about
Emperor Norton, and are soon interrupted by the arrival of
Marla, the playwright. She is astonished that they have been
invited to audition, since the play is unfinished, but decides
she can use their talents to work out the more difficult
scenes of the play. A man emerges from the wings dressed as a
nineteenth-century emperor, protesting that the scene bears
little resemblance to Norton’s actual death. He also
challenges their perceptions of other episodes in the play.
Marla, Diana and Michael begin to see how the threads of the
mystery come together. Marla, won over, demands that they
restage the scenes, and she joins her destiny with his;
Empress to his Emperor, in the realm of fantasy, spirit, art,
and love.

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA PART II - REVENGE OF THE
DIVAS
Music by
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Translation and Adapted Dialogue by Diane Squires
The
story resumes several months after the destruction of the
Paris Opera House by the Phantom, and his subsequent
disappearance. Monsieur Firmin, now sole artistic director, is
wrestling with the idea of reopening the Paris Opera, or
simply retiring to Waikiki. However, his plans for a life of
hula on the beach are soon interrupted, first by the arrival
of La Carlotta, former diva of the Paris Opera who is looking
to regain her past glory, and then by the dramatic appearance
of the presumed-dead Phantom who still wishes to promote his
disinterested ingénue Christine to primadonna. Can these two
rival sopranos exist together in one opera house? Can the
Phantom refrain from murder and mayhem long enough for an
entire production to be mounted? Can Firmin ever get to
Hawaii? Find out in this new adaptation of Mozart's comic gem
The Impresario.
